Strawberry Wine | My Bloody Valentine
Swallow | My Bloody Valentine
When the Sun Hits | Slowdive
“It matters where you are”
It’s almost 8 o’clock here, but it’s still very dark and cloudy. I think it’s raining a bit, too. This weather always reminds me of Souvlaki, this song in particular, it just has that feel to it.
Sight of You | Pale Saints
“what can i do?
what can i say?
the world was large
and i felt very small
what’s gonna happen?
how will i know
when things are back
the way they used to be before?
the sight of you
the sight of you
makes me feel blue
i feel so blue
the things you said
the things you said
make me feel bad
my heart is sad”
I Don’t Need You | My Bloody Valentine
"The way that you talk, the way that you smile Could make me happy for a while Things that you see, the things that I do The way that you walk, the things that you say Makes it hard to go away Don’t be so sad ’cause I thought that you knew (that) I don’t need you"
Today is just going to be My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus & Mary Chain until I fall asleep.
Thorn | My Bloody Valentine
“Walk all over me
Even though you can’t decide
Look out, (jump back)
You’ll be on your own
Hillside, slip and slide
Feel the pain, it’s no surprise
Look out, look out
Thorn will be your love
I felt your hair across my skin
I didn’t know where to begin
A shallow promise in my ear
No thoughts, no dreams, no wishes, and no fear
The rose is dead, your face serene
No memories of things that once did seem
To be to me important too
You give me flowers when it’s thorns I give to you”
Alison | Slowdive
Slowdive makes me want to rub up against pretty boys in the dark.
Tugboat | Galaxie 500 (Live, 1989, At Commonwealth School in Boston)
When You Sleep | The Antlers (My Bloody Valentine cover)
Usually I hate My Bloody Valentine covers, because My Bloody Valentine is My Bloody Valentine, and the other band is not, but The Antlers did a fantastic job with this.
I really don’t blog about Loveless as much as I should. But I have a valid reason for that: Everything’s already been said. Every recording quirk has been commented on, every fact about the recording processed seems to have been released, every lyric has been (mis)interpreted, which is absolutely fine, since it’s obviously an amazing album.
I guess the only thing I feel I can say at this point is that I really, really like this album.
“I felt your hair across my skin
I didn’t know where to begin
A shallow promise in my ear
No thoughts, no dreams, no wishes, and no fear
The rose is dead, your face serene
No memories of things that once did seem
To be to me important too
