“You’re not punk, and I’m telling everyone!”

“Pop Punk/Punk Pop”

or

“Hyuk Hyuk”.

Women in Punk.

I'm a cliche by X-Ray Spex from the album: Germ-Free Adolescents

I’m a Cliché | X-Ray Spex

Ugh Germ-free Adolescents is just one of the best punk albums ever made.

The Classical by The Fall from the album: Hex Enduction Hour

The Classical | The Fall

I remember hearing that during Pavement’s early days, they would cover this, and Stephen Malkmus would end the song saying, “he hates us, he hates us”, in reference to Mark E. Smith. I always thought that was hilarious.

It's Not Funny Anymore by Hüsker Dü from the album: Metal Circus

It’s Not Funny Anymore | Hüsker Dü

“Play what you want to play
Hear what you want to hear
Don’t worry about the result
Or the effect It has on your career”

Marquee Moon by Television

amajor7:

What’s left to be said about Marquee Moon? It’s just one of the best songs ever written.

Your Phone's Off The Hook, But You're Not by X from the album: Los Angeles/Wild Gift

“YOUR PHONE’S OFF THE HOOK…

BUT YOU’RE NOT!”

Listened to this album all the way through for the first time today. I’ve heard all of the songs a few times now, but I’ve never really had the time (read: attention span) to sit down and listen to all 70 minutes of it with my undivided attention until now.
So glad I did. This album is ridiculous. A hardcore punk (that also would incorporate jazz, folk, and psychedelic elements) concept album about a boy who runs away from home, briefly joins the army, falls in love (possibly?) only to have his girlfriend die, and then wakes up to find it was all just a dream sounds like it should be a complete failure, but it works surprisingly well.
Also, fun facts about the album: Every song (other than Something I Learned Today and Newest Industry) were recorded on the first take. Also, it took 40 hours to record all of the tracks, the entire album actually only took 85 hours in total to record and produce it, all for only $3,200.

So Tough by The Slits from the album: Cut

So Tough | The Slits
“So strong
They say you’re acting like a star
So strong
They say not everything’s wonderbar
Too long
You want money, girls urgently
Too long
Too much, too soon you wait and see
Too much
You hang around her ‘cause she’s a good mate
Too much
Milkshakes and cherry cheesecake
Too fast
They want to stop you having kicks
Slow down
Don’t fuck things up by getting sick… again”

Made Of Money by Adam Ant from the album: Friend Or Foe

Made of Money | Adam Ant

“Marriages are made in heaven
So what the hell happened to mine?”
